  • ¼ cup red wine
  1. Fry garlic with oil in sauce pan until fragrant.
  2. Add tomatoes, half the basil, bay leaf, dried oregano, salt and red wine in sauce pan and simmer to reduce to desired consistency mashing the tomatoes with a fork as they cook. Add water if sauce thickens too quickly.
  3. Take off heat and add remaining basil leaves.
